State Rep. Tina Davis is introducing a bill to move the commonwealth’s cut of sports betting proceeds into its property tax relief fund, through which the state removes some of the local school tax burden from homeowners, rather than its general fund.
The money Pennsylvania collects from newly legalized sports betting could become a touchdown or a fumble for local homeowners, depending on where it goes and how it’s used.
State Rep. Tina Davis is introducing a bill to direct about one-third of sports-betting proceeds into the state’s property tax relief fund, which already collects regular gaming revenue. The state currently is set to tax sports-betting proceeds at 34 percent and place the money in its general fund.
