Right now, our members and candidates are hosting dozens of virtual events online right now. This is the best way right now to stay engaged and informed with updates surrounding your community. We know for many of you, this might be your first time attending virtual events. At the HDCC, we put together a step by step guide so you can stay involved while staying inside.
We know right now is new and different for all of us. Hopefully, these simple steps will make it easier for you to engage with candidates and members ahead of our primary election on June 2.
Joining a virtual event through Zoom:
Step 1: If the event is hosted on Zoom, you will be presented with a unique 9, 10, or 11 digit number called a meeting ID. That code will be your ticket to join.
Step 2: Go to https://otago.zoom.us/join and Enter the Meeting ID that you have been provided and click ‘Join.’
Step 3: Once you insert the meeting ID number, you will be prompted to allow zoom access to your computer camera and microphone. This is only for the duration of the virtual event.
Step 4: You will be prompted to insert your name, so people know who is talking and listening during the virtual event.
What if I am joining on a mobile device?
If you are joining on a mobile device, you will be redirected to download the Zoom Cloud Meetings app from the App / Play Store. Once you download the app, you will be instructed to insert the meeting ID code and follow similar steps.
