Helen Tai, who was sworn in Tuesday morning, delivered on a campaign promise to submit a bill mandating “no budget, no pay” for legislators who fall behind on passing the state’s budget by June 30.
New state Rep. Helen Tai introduced her first bill — with ramifications for her peers’ pay — shortly after she was sworn in Tuesday morning.
If approved, House Bill 2469 would suspend lawmakers’ salaries if they do not pass the state’s General Fund budget by their annual June 30 deadline.
The proposal was one Tai, D-178, of Solebury, pledged to introduce while campaigning in the district special election she won earlier this year.
