New Poll Reveals Supermajority Supports House Democratic Leadership “People First” Policies & Priorities
HARRISBURG, OCT 8, 2024 – The legislative agenda and the policies championed by the Pennsylvania House Democratic Majority, “The People’s Majority”, are widely supported by a supermajority of Pennsylvania voters according to a new survey released Monday.
The poll, commissioned by SpotlightPA, asked if voters approved or disapproved of several major issues on the Democratic Majority’s agenda including universal background checks, a $15 minimum wage, and discrimination protections based on sexual orientation…
A supermajority of Pennsylvania voters approve of the House Democratic agenda.
63% of the 800 likely voters expressed strong or moderate support for these policies. And remarkably, that support crosses party lines. According to Spotlight PA:
“The agenda appealed to more than Democrats — 63% of respondents not affiliated with a major party and 34% of Republican respondents voiced support.”
Under Democratic leadership, the Pennsylvania House has prioritized the needs of all Pennsylvanians including a once-in-a-decade education reform bill, proposals to protect contraception and reproductive freedom, universal background checks for firearms while respecting gun enthusiasts rights, and a proposed increase in the minimum wage to $15. These initiatives reflect a commitment to a fairer and safer society for all Pennsylvanians.
“This poll shows that the House Democratic Majority is doing the work that the vast majority of Pennsylvanians want us to do,” said House Democratic Campaign Caucus Chair, Rep. Tina Davis. “A vote for our strong Democratic House candidates is a vote to continue the progress made by the Democratic leadership. In contrast, A Republican-led house would side with anti-choice extremists and big corporations over workers.”
